Romeo and Juliet is lame. I will explain later.

I believe that Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's most hilarious plays and a warped comedy, and no one will ever convince me otherwise. The leads are ridiculous, the plot silly, and all the best lines go to Mercutio. In fact, if you can find a clean version of "Shakespeare in Love", you'll see what I mean.

Bottom line: Much Ado About Nothing is way better.

But some beautiful music was created as a result of R&J; the second movement of Beethoven's Quartet, Op. 18, No. 1, (Adagio affettuoso ed appassionato) was inspired by the tomb scene. This movement is one of my favorites in the quartet repertoire. Give it a listen sometime, it's on that CD I brought to you with the scores. Otherwise, I tend to agree with you.

Cool I'll listen to it. I want to see Shakespeare in Love. Ms Bates told us to cause we can't watch it in class.

Mercutio and Benvolio are my fave characters.
